Dr Drew Nelson (OBE)
has been elected as a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering at an
awards ceremony in London, UK. Dr Nelson’s Fellowship was conferred by the
presentation of a scroll by HRH Duke of Kent.
The Academy was
founded in 1976 on the initiative of HRH The Duke of Edinburgh and a group
of distinguished engineers. It was granted its Royal Charter in 1983 and
adopted its present title in 1992. It is a registered charity, supported
partly by Parliamentary grant-in-aid through the Office of Science and
Technology and is the only publicly funded engineering body in the UK.
Dr Nelson, who
co-founded IQE in 1998, was awarded a Silver Medal by the academy in 2000
and received an OBE in 2001 for services to the electronics industry. |
