IQE to play a key role in establishing a technology Cluster in Wales

Cardiff, UK, 27 May 2015 - IQE plc (AIM: IQE; "IQE", the "Group"), the leading global supplier of advanced semiconductor wafer products and services will play a key role in turning Wales into a world-leading cluster for compound semiconductor technology. 

Cardiff University announced yesterday that Professor Diana Huffaker, one of the world's leading experts in compound semiconductors, has been appointed to lead a new research laboratory at Cardiff University to establish a world-class research lab with a focus on fundamental science and device development.

The lab will explore novel growth methods and material combinations and will form part of a Compound Semiconductor Foundation to create a global hub for Compound Semiconductors technology research, development and innovation.

The Compound Semiconductor Foundation will strengthen partnership between IQE and academics in developing next generation technologies and will play a signification role in the establishment of a technology cluster in the region.
